Review: Lazer Solid-State SS1 Sunglasses

This is the final post in my +Lazer Sport NV sunglass review series. After reading my take on the SS1, please take a minute to check out the first two.

Part I: Lazer Magneto Review
Part II: Lazer Argon AR1 Review

Last But Not Least, the Lazer Solid-State SS1

I saved the Lazer Solid-State SS1 sunglasses for last, not for any particular reason other than they were the most similar of the three to my Oakley Radar Paths. I wanted to check out the other models first, just to ride something different. While I enjoyed and would still recommend both the unconventional Magneto and the more-conventional Argon AR1, I believe my personal preference remains with the Path/Solid-State styling. It's sleek, provides good coverage and just looks cool. I'll compare the Path and Solid-State later, but want to start out focusing solely on the Lazer frames.

Solid-State SS1: The Swiss Army Knife of Sunglasses

The Solid State SS1 is available in the standard colors and finishes. Most of the models come standard with three lenses - Smoke-Silver, Lazer Yellow and Clear. Great options for varying light conditions. Removing the lens is simple, and very similar to what I demonstrated with the AR1s.

Must Read: Long-Form Fatty Ride Reports

When I can't ride bikes for one reason or another, I often find myself being sucked further into the epic accounts of others and their tales of bikes, training and miles gone by. I've already passed on the three cycling podcasts you should listen to, and have to reiterate the need to check out Mike Creed's Open Mic. It just keeps getting better and better - the Brad Huff interview should not be missed, for many reasons.

Lately however, I have found my way back to Fat Cyclist. Fatty has always been a favorite read but two recent blog "mini series" have honestly been really, really, REALLY fun to read. They both center around the Salt to Saint endurance race - the first about a pre-event training ride, and the second about the ride itself. I've linked to both below, but be warned - you will feel compelled by his cliffhanger endings, to finish both stories in one sitting. Get comfortable and please don't just skip to the end!

Back to Mike Creed for a moment. Big kudos to Colorado Cyclist for stepping in as a sponsor of the podcast - it seems like a great fit.

Review: Lazer Argon AR1 Sunglasses

This is the second of three Lazer sunglass reviews. If you have some free time, go check out the first review of the Lazer Magneto and stay tuned for a full review of the Lazer Solid-State SS1. Now, on to the show.

Argon AR1: Familiar Styling With Great Features

Lazer’s Argon sunglasses come in two models, the AR1 and AR2. Both feature the same lens design, with the main difference being the frame’s temple shape. I have been wearing the AR1, which features taller temples than the AR2. Both are traditional setups that will appeal to most.

Their adjustable ear piece design takes that further, making them customizable for many head shapes and fit preferences. I was able to set the, straight back and achieve a snug fit with no pressure-causing discomfort.
